We have two sea days to get us back to Miami, it’s always the best way to end a cruise, chilling and generally being very lazy in anticipation of the journey home. This time that’s not so important as we have a few nights in Miami but after five consecutive ports it’s still good to decompress.

Our itinerary takes us along the northern coast of Dominican Republic and later Haiti, overnight we’ll cross on the the coast of Cuba. We do our usual sea-day walking - 100 laps which equates to 10km. We watch the ship’s plaque being polished, the job spec calls for a tall deck-hand!
Right after lunch there is a Piña Colada party on deck, we spend it in the pool being fed said drinks from time to time.
Later, after sangrias in the jacuzzi, we go home early to shower and dress for dinner, it’s the only evening for DJs on this journey, and starts with Captain’s farewell address in the show lounge and then ship’s cruise director Jan and her staff, the entire ship’s company of singers, dancers and band members joining in, followed by dancing (nope, not had anywhere near enough to get on the dance floor!)
There’s time for a visit to David at Patio Bar for champagne cocktails (Royale and Imperial) before we descend the main staircase to MDR for Chef Michael’s special dinner.
Regular readers will remember I went to a potato-less gnocchi cooking demo, and this is one of the courses this evening. It is excellent - Parmesan singing out in compliment to the truffle butter sauce. The “cherry” course is technically impressive but the least exciting.
We both opt for fillet, Hubby accepts chef’s recommendation to take it medium rare, so his is cooked sous vide and then quickly seared, whereas I want rare, so I get a raw steak just seared - both are perfect!
The show this evening is Texas Tenors, a group who won America’s Got Talent some years ago, they sing a mixture of semi classics, mainstream and country very well, and their enthusiasm is infectious.
