We’re persona non grata! More accurately, that would be navem non grata. Either way St Thomas has turned us away as we’ve exceeded their threshold for acceptable covid cases. Consequently we’re having another sea day. The weather is stunning, so who cares?

It’s taken me several days but I’ve worked out how to conquer the problem with connecting to my servers in Sheffield. Good job as we have a small crisis only I can fix - my team, as capable as they are, don’t have all the knowledge or I’d be without a job!!
It’s a tedious and painful solution that I need to improve, but it allows me to make the necessary changes to my building management code in a couple of hours, then it’s up to deck nine to find Hubby, and for some sunshine.
Next comes five miles, always entertaining as we watch the crew performing their never-ending duties such as painting, greasing cables, mopping salty bits and cleaning everything. Running a big ship makes the proverbial Forth Bridge look like child’s play. We’re listening to Hugh Jackman as Peter Allen in A Boy from Oz, a much better musical than that other one he’s famous for. Extra special to us as we walked down the isle to the first section of the overture.
Luncheon takes the form of a club sandwich at New York Deli - they are exceptionally good, plus a bottle of one of our favourite Chardonnays of course! There is a bit more work that needs mopping up so I remain with the wine and an iPad whilst Hubby returns to the sun on after deck nine, I’m not far behind as my iPad soon overheats and truculently shuts down!!
Afternoon walkies is to Miss Saigon, such a dreadful story - albeit glorious music. And yes, I still cry to Bui Doi - every time - even after several decades.
Before long we’re back in the pool, no playmates tonight but I don’t care, then join Hubby for a jacuzzi and a couple of cocktails before we return to shower and dress for dinner, whilst enjoying a delightful sunset.
After canapés we descend to the theatre for an interesting show which is a combination of the Company of six contemporary dancers and the two duelling pianists that have their own show each night, plus a bluesy singer from another performance space. It’s another imaginative collaboration between the huge screens in the theatre, the set designers, the choreographers and the artists. Excellent theatre - and we do know what we’re talking about!
Dinner tonight is by personal invitation! Chef sent a message yesterday that he’d like to cook us something special, and here we are looking forward to steak Diane. As expected it is spectacularly good, a superb sauce, everything cooked to perfection. He come to see us later and is so pleased we enjoyed the attention. We top and tail with crab cakes and chocolate soufflé.
