We arose to a milky mill-pond sea, hardly a ripple to be seen. We started on the forward deck for a while, enjoying the sunshine whilst checking emails. Crisis at work, fortunately because it was a sea day I was able to start diagnosing straight away. Check this, test that.
I then went to a cooking demonstration of mushroom risotto which tasted fine but TBH it was nothing challenging, although it gave our cousins the opportunity to ask unnecessary questions, some of which chef chose not hear, can't think why that was! Meanwhile I'm still trying to resolve my crisis. Try something else, did you do what I asked you earlier?
We adjourned to the stern deck so we could jump in a pool ... lovely. Then a Manhattan appears from this air, just right! Finally, the crisis is over, it's all BT's fault, story of my life, got me through to lunch time though, thanks BT.
Poolside grill - Chardonnay, nachos and dip followed by rare burger & fries, simply the best! They boobed on our order so it was a hurried lunch before we dashed upstairs to join the tour of the bridge, where we spent over an hour with the incredibly relaxed first and second officers who are driving us towards Sardinia today at a leisurely speed of 10.6 knots. First stayed focused on the road ahead whilst Second gave us an incredibly detailed and knowledgeable talk for a fascinating hour about many different aspects of the ships systems. We've done a few bridges in our time but this was the best by far. Amusing that the ships steering wheel is now a joystick the size of a broken pencil. Tales of coffee cups getting knocked over and in doing so smashing thousands of glasses as the ship does a rapid turn may be apocryphal but it's easy to see how delicate it is.
Back to the pool, jacuzzi and sofas at the stern for cocktails and chat with cronies for a while, before an early shower and dress for party and dinner. The party is for Seabourn Club members, anyone who has sailed over a certain number of days, and the Cruise Director sings for us including a superb rendition of Ya Got Trouble from The Music Man.
We then head down to dinner where it's the Chef's Dinner tonight. We've been invited to join the Belgian hotel manager Jean-Sebastien and his Geordie assistant Jo and a lovely Texan couple where we enjoy a fabulous tasting dinner and good company. Finally it's back to the show-lounge for a show based on mostly Broadway songs which of course is just perfect for us!
