Day 15 - Cruising The Callanques

Sea days are so rare on this vacation, there was one in the first section and one today on the second section. I call them sections but this is a back-to-back cruise, so really it's just one day per cruise. It's often like this in busy parts of the world like the Baltic, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean simply because the ports are so close together travelling is done so quickly.

However today we're going 398nm from the Ballearics to the Italian Riviera so it's a good deal further, and luckily for us will include a close pass-by of the Callanques area of Corsica. The first officer Malek informs me that we will pass 0.7nm from the nearest land mass as we perform this manoeuvre. It’s important to clarify that we’re not doing some hideous Costa Concordia kind of bravado show, this whole thing is highly orchestrated, from the original chart prepared by our navigator, agreed by the captain, confirmed by said first officer AND then sent to Seattle (Seabourn HQ) for final approval. Anyway I'm writing this after the fact, so clearly I’m not a statistic!

Sea days are funny, on paper you’d be forgiven for wondering how the time might pass, yet in reality there's so little time its amazing how it flies! After a bit of sun there’s the cooking demo - anyone reading this will know already I have more than passing interest in food, but I love to go, even if it’s to amuse myself with the astonishing questions some people ask!

Next there's more sun then going up for lunch, today we went to the Colonnade for a change. After which it was time for me to dash up to the bridge again.

Then back to view the Callanques, our transit took over two hours, so we flitted between our own balcony, which on Starboard was perfectly positioned, to the forward jacuzzi and the forward deck. The amazing pink coloured rocks shone throught and we remembered our journey with John and Sheila a few years ago (well, 2008, so eight years) in a hire car screaming round the crazy bends!

And during all this busy busy I caught up on two weeks of The Archers! My phone automatically downloads each episode as it comes available and stores them for later, so it's just a matter of having the time to catch up.

After all that lot we got ready for dinner early so we could catch the pre-dinner show - an internationally known pianist - and then grab a table on the grill for dinner and dance party.
