Tenerife 2021 - Day 9 - Tuesday 23/11

Have some cava, says the waiter at breakfast - except it’s Tattainger rosé, and quite an excellent way to start our last day. After fruits and yogurt (vanilla with candid peel and raisins) I make avocado toast, with smoked salmon scrambled egg, and topped with caviar - with all these amazing ingredients available (and many more) how can I resist something different each morning?

Hubby is packing whilst I’m doing some work, then we check out and take a drive up the motorway some 24km to the Giants, Los Gigantes, not a place we’ve visited recently. Parking up hill, we enjoy the walk down, first to the harbour, and then around town, finding our way with some amusement as the streets are steep and not always connected like it seems on Google Maps.

Back to the car, we take the slow road back, alongside the coast quite often, winding through banana plantations as we pass towns previously visited earlier this week, Playa San Juan and Callao Salvaje, and drop down to the Rose shopping centre in Playa Paraíso to park up - we need to consume an hour before we head back to the airport. Rugged coastline, tiny beach, nice views - although it’s not quite Venice Beach the gym is right there!

A wander from top to bottom of the little town round the winding coves between the Hard Rock and another hotel consumes 40 minutes, and the is rest spent window shopping before we hit the motorway for the 25 minute final drive. Talking of Google, we’ve really enjoyed playing with Apple CarPlay!

Dropping the car off is so easy and even the queue to check in isn't too bad, then security was really quick, we had time to wander through duty free (didn’t spend) and then do a second passport check just to punish Britains!

Our flight is rammed again, but time passes quickly as I’m flitting between writing this, reading, and working on my opus á la moment - the NB staff app project. Shopping list also done so we can stop at Stockport Tesco as we pass.
