Day 1 - leaving Monaco

We chose Port Palace hotel because it was the only one in the harbour that we could book with AirMiles. It's turned out to be a delight - great staff, elegant room and extremely well located. The rooftop restaurant looked good but we didn't get to try that, And the coffee at breakfast was top notch, another tick.

After a few cups we headed East along the coast right out of Monaco and back into France before turning round and heading off to the casino. Nope - past the casino - neither of us are gamblers - indeed nor were we dressed appropriately just like everytime in the past we've been here, so still we have not seen inside this iconic establishment.

We then headed back to our 'otel to collect our bags for the minuscule journey to the cruise terminal. If we weren't so damaged we would have happily dragged our baggage round the harbour to the terminal, it is only 1.2 km which is nothing. But with two damaged arms between us it could be problematic. Eventually the taxi arrived - and the charge of €15 is madnesses - but we have no choice.

We head straight for the pool-side grill to have lunch of burger and fries, without doubt the finest anywhere.

Our baggage arrives in dribs and drabs and we unpack slowly between the emergency muster drill and more sedate sail-away engagements. Afterwards we head to the after deck to watch Monaco shrink into the distance with a glass of champagne to ease the burden.

Then it's time to shower and dress for dinner. We ascend to deck ten and the forward-looking observation lounge to get a bubbly aperatif before we descend to four for our first dinner. The Thomas Keller looks amazing so we go for this.

TK has taken Seabourn by storm - both good and bad - but on the basis of the first trial we are seriously impressed. Long may this be the standard!!

Finally we head to the showlounge to enjoy the company perform for us.
