Embarkation day! We plan a neighbourhood walk today as our driver is scheduled for 13:20 but the heavens open spectacularly so we stay in our room instead.
Transfer to the terminal is easy, almost the route we walked two days before, the terminal is a proper dump but we are quickly tendered over to the beautiful Quest to check in. We immediately meet Jan, a cruise director we know, and catch up with news.
Only thirty guests are new today, the majority have been on since leaving Miami mid January and are circumnavigating South America so the check-in process is rapid. We’re in our room within five minutes and our bags arrive a minute later.
As is custom and practice we start with a hamburger and the worlds best fries - no doubt there. And champagne of course.
It’s great to see some other friends are here - the singers Matthew and Jahz have joined for a few days, we haven’t seen them since last July. Also onboard is Davide who makes the best Sangria ever!!

For our first dinner we want to eat outside as we’ve missed doing that for over a week, so go to Earth & Ocean which what Patio Grill is called in the evening. We enjoy sashimi, pasta with beef ragú, duck and baked apple.
