The heights set back from the coast look extraorinary from every angle. They are in some cases small villages former villages (such as Adeje) that are now just part of the conurbation which now stretches from Los Christianos right up to La Caletta, some five or so miles.
Today we walk down from one of these hights, Roque del Conde, just because we can! It's a lovely walk, and the ever-changing view as we twist and turn is spectacular. We walk back through the main streets rather than on the coast, where the shops are much more up-market - not that there's any danger of us buying a designer shirt or suit!
Walking through the grounds, I remember to get a snap of that Olympic-sized jacuzzi, but unfortunately that photo is corrupted - I’ll do it again this evening. It’s quite an overcast day, we don’t take many photos at all.
Later we return to Playa Paraiso for another wander, again it's all about the views. All around the island, these barranco are the valleys that, should it rain hard, carry the water down to the sea.
After lunch we try out another part of town - today is very town-centric for some reason, this time we walk from walk from Caldera del Ray, overlooking Siam Park, the best water park on Trip Adviser (according to someone in our hotel!)
Later we take a lovely walk back along the coast, arriving back our hotel just in time enjoy the last minutes of light with a bottle of bubly on our balcony.
After a shower and dressing for dinner we’re off to Cenador, the tasting restaurant in our hotel.
Cenador only severs Cañarían food, so it it’s not originated from the Canaries, it’s not on the menu - that doesn't stop there being an excellent list, worthy of a tasting menu.
We start with ceviche of prawn, mixing the emulsified brains with raw tail to make an excellent start to dinner.
Next comes beef tatami, so sweet yet picante, the potato “soufflé” an amazing accompaniment.
Then it’s Cañarían stew, rich in vegetables but still the beef and pork are excellent
Now comes seafood risotto, the ocean is bristling from this dish
Red grouper confit is next, the taste is excellent and it’s amazing to actúales taste this fish having swam amongst it for many years when diving.
Violet sorbet breaks the taste sensations.
Suckling pig on grape purée is as amazing as it sounds!
Aromas of La Palma is a meringue and custard smash, fragrant and light
Cañarían tea time finishes off our dinner.
The sommelier kindly left us the pudding wine - excellent!!
As we return via the garden, the opera singer’s entertainment is a bonus.
