Staycation 2021/03 day 08

Saturdays are always different in our household. Firstly because it’s shopping day but also because it’s the one day we don’t do a proper walk.

The paper takes more digesting over breakfast which is fine because we have more time, and then we eventually gather enough energy to hit Tesco.

Obvs it’s no biggie for me as I’m just the chuffer but hubby has to queue and then do the actual shopping part - yuk.

Meanwhile after fetching my monthly prescription I’m free to power along the Trans Pennine for a couple of miles, whilst phoning a friend. We put the world to rights for an hour during which I somehow make exactly the right choice of turnaround time.

When Hubby calls I’m just moments away from being back at the car in time to drive home.

Exciting news on our return - we’re old enough to qualify for our vaccinations, so we immediately get online and book both sets, the first jab is only ten days away! We celebrate by taking a short walk around the village, chatting to near-ish neighbour Catherine as we wander.

Our afternoon is spent planning the final parts of our Summer holiday, and doing domestic chores before we meet friends on FaceTime for afternoon tea.

Then it’s a hours work (who’d expect anything else?) before G&T o’clock.

Prepping for dinner is a labour of love - as previously documented in these annals, I’m only prepared to skin peas for a very select few, of course Hubby is one if those.

Dinner doesn’t satisfy the holiday rules so I’m making a starter first to abrogate the situation - we enjoy scallops on ham and pea, before steak frîtes.

The movie du jour is Tourist which we really enjoy.
