UK 2020 Covid Tour - day 0

OK, naming the previous post “day 0” was mistaken but that’s fixed now. Here’s a new day 0! In fact today is not holiday at all, but it has a Fe holiday moments to discuss.

Actually it’s a working day for the most part, indeed work strikes with a vengeance when our distribution software has something of an inexplicable problem, losing some packing instructions between screens. Still unresolved as I write, so that’s one job for the holidays, can’t blame anyone else as I wrote the software. Meanwhile some other stuff does get sorted and of course Hubby is on Teams meetings most of the day.

Nevertheless we manage to fit in our first visit to the hairdressers in four months, a huge weight of our mind both literally and figuratively.

it’s als a brilliant day for bowl-licking, starting with our usual topsey-turvey Tuesdays, cooking dinner at lunch-time for visiting friends. We have sausage meatball carbonara, a variation on a Jamie dish, which I’ve enhanced but It still needs some work to get right, followed by apple upside-down cake which is a triumph. Three bowls there - carbonara, cake mix and toffee sauce - yummy!

After lunch we’re back to work until it’s finally time to stop and make more food. Our Tuesdays really are upside down so I make salad - Cæsar today - and prepare for our walkies, including a nice bottle of Chardonnay. We head off, making phone calls to family snd friends as we walk. Two hours in and we’re at one of our favourite picnic benches, looking across Denby Dale to Emley Moor and her twin masts where we enjoy our food, before walking quickly back to build up some warmth, the evening isn’t so temperate now its approaching 21:00.

Home again by 21:30 it’s time to start prepping food for our holiday, I make sauces of Arrabiata, Normande and toffee whilst Hubby does some other prep and madly washes the many dishes I mess up. That’s another four to lick! Getting excited now, we’re properly in holiday by this time.
