06/02

Kung ho fat choi. Tomorrow is CNY but this is the last day of my blog, for tomorrow I sleep ha ha.

An indecently early start is required today (for theatre types anyway) as we have to hit the street at 08:00. In fact we're finished packing, fed and watered and in the car well by 07:45 and Mr Young drives us to the airport. Our bags are rather plentiful so Mr Hu is driving those separately in a Picasso!

Perhaps because of CNY the roads are, whilst not exactly quiet, somewhat less chaotic than we might have expected, and once past the security nightmare of T-Square we are soon making good progress towards Capital Airport.

Once through immigration and security we have plenty of time in the lounge before boarding, but yet more waiting is in store as we sit for 50 minutes on the apron waiting for clearance to take off, potentially making us late for our connection in FRA. (It was tight but we didn't miss the connection to MAN.)

Finally all is resolved and w are in the air by midday. The amazing thing about air travel is having breakfast in Beijing but by 20:00 were having our usual "return from traveling" meal of beans on toast in Barnsley! Although having also had three in-flight meals may have meant we didn't need the latter.
