Huatulco. We arrive first thing at this tiny, idyllic port. Sadly the captain has brought the departure time an hour forward without explanation so we are restricted in our excursion, but nevertheless head off on our planned walk to Playa la Entraga some 4.5 km away. In fact it would have been quicker to swim to this bay as the ship's backside is almost parked in this bay, but of course that isn't allowed. And it's a lovely walk firstly through town, then over the hill, past the tiny navy outpost where we watch them parading, and down to the beach as planned. I have a pleasant snorkelling experience, although the undercurrent is surprisingly strong when returning to the beach, and manage to see parrot, butterfly, angel, pipe and box fish in moderate numbers on the reef. We walk back and arrive back at the ship perfectly in time. Annoyingly there are numerous people who are late, including a ships tour, meaning the hastend departure was ill planned and punished those who chose to listen, whilst those who returned late were rewarded.
Our afternoon at sea was spent walking, reading and of course attending a cooking demonstration. Today it was smoothies, I got so bored with all the alleged benefits of making smoothies all I could think was, if you just cooked decent balanced food everyday you wouldn't be looking for these ghastly drinks to provide your missing vitamins, minerals and fibre. Get back to basics and quit whinging. But of course I kept quiet and didn't say anything! (Regular readers will be wondering where the real Neil is!)
This evening was another Le Cirque dinner in the Pinnacle Grill - once again the food was exceptional and they even managed to deliver a very good soufflé too!
