Puerto Vallarta. Last time we were here was NYE a week ago. Today we plan to ride into the hills. We walk to our rendezvous at the public library to be picked up with others to go to the stables. Our lift turns out to be a pickup with less seats than customers so we end up in the flatbed! It's not far fortunately - three miles - but along bumpy cobbled and unmade roads.
Mark has Patricio and I get Chattanooga who is indeed about as manageable as a stream train - we eventually come to an edgy compromise on who thinks who is the boss!! But we head up into the hills and enjoy every minute. We observe how we can ride through an operating quarry, the Caterpillars just swing the other way as we pass - imagine that back home? Passing across the river over and again we ascend towards a beautiful waterfall, passing bars, houses, plantations and farms on the way. Roaming cows are unexpected as we look up to see them perched on ledges in the dense overgrowth.
Eventually we return to the ranch and are driven back towards town - the local Costco is a good spot for picking up taxis for the others although we choose Shank's Pony to get us back home in time for a sailaway drinkie.
We enjoy a lazy afternoon in the privacy of out varandah before we dress for dinner. We go all fishey, tonight choosing Halibut and Salmon as our mains. The turn is a past Broadway Starl who's has performed in Phantom for over five years.
